MOTION NO. 19

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

That this Committee requests the Manager to arrange a meeting as soon as possible with both Moy Glas Residents Association and the re-formed Castle Riada Residents Association so as to seek to agree more substantive proposals for the old road embankment for which funding was allocated under the Public Realm Transformation initiative.

REPORT:

As part of the Public Realm Initiative the Esker site at Castle Riada/Moy Glas Estates was identified as a priority 1 project.  The concentration of the anti-social activity was located at the wall overlooking houses in Moy Glas Estate in the centre of the esker.  This wall has been removed and remedial landscape works have  recently been completed.  It was agreed at the March LAC that following these works a further meeting would be arranged with the residents to discuss the thinning of vegetation. This work can only be carried out outside the nesting season due to the provisions of the Wildlife Act. 

The Council will arrange to meet both the Moy Glas residents and the re-formed Castle Riada residents at a time in July which is mutually convenient to all parties.
