QUESTION NO. 7
QUESTION: Councillor C. Jones
To ask the Manager about the up-to-date situation regarding the deal between Castlethorn Construction and the Department of Education to locate a temporary school building for Esker Education in Adamstown and also to state the relationship between this arrangement and the delivery of a Sports Hall for the community and for Adamstown Community College?
REPLY:
The Department of Education and Skills submitted a Planning Application on 16th June 2011 (Reg. Ref. SDZ11A/0001) seeking permission for construction of a temporary 16 classroom primary school for a period of 3 years on a site situated to the south of Adamstown Avenue and west of Adamstown Community College. The application was made following pre-planning discussions. Site clearance of an existing building compound has commenced at this location to facilitate the provision of a temporary school. As the site is located within Adamstown SDZ, building works can commence following a grant of planning permission.
Discussions are ongoing in relation to the delivery of a Sports Hall for the community and for Adamstown Community College.
