Report on Naming of Roundabouts

This matter has arisen as a result of requests from members and it is intended to make a comprehensive list of Roundabouts in the County which are located on National and Regional roads.  Many of these roundabouts have already been given local names (e.g. Spawell Roundabout) which are related to the local area in which they are located.  In addition there are many small roundabouts on local roads which may have local identifiers that would not have significance outside these areas.  It would be important from the Council viewpoint to ensure that roundabouts on national and regional roads would have a local or townland connection so that they could be incorporated into the street map at next review.  It is intended that the list would be developed over the Summer months and brought to the local area members in the autumn.
