MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

That Management, as a matter of urgency, bring forward proposals for a public Taxi Rank (or ranks) for the Palmerston Area in the vicinity of Palmerstown Shopping Centre/Kennelsfort Road/Wheatfield Road and for the Village.

REPORT:

The provision of taxi ranks in the Palmerston area will be considered in the context of a comprehensive study of the area in consultation with the stakeholders but it should be noted such a provision could have an impact on some of the existing parking in the area and will involve the regulation of other roadspace. A poorly designed rank could be disregarded by taxi drivers and hence fail.
