QUESTION NO. 23

QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

To ask the Manager for a progress report on the disposal to the Department of Education and Skills of the Council's lands at Esker Lane, Lucan, on which the Green Recycling Centre was located, and where the Park's Depot is currently located?

REPLY:

The Council at its meeting held on 13/12/2010 approved of the disposal of a site at Esker Lane to the Minister for Education and Skills subject to terms and conditions, to facilitate the provision of a primary school.

The site at present accommodates a Park's Depot and this Depot will require to be relocated to an alternative site in order that the Council may transfer vacant possession of the site to the Minister.  The Council has initiated a public consultation process under Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 to 2009 in respect of the proposed replacement Park's Depot on a site at Griffeen Valley Park , Hayden's Lane, Lucan, South of the Railway Line. The plans and particulars of this proposal have been put on display from 16/5/2011 to 27/6/2011 with the closing date for receipt of submissions or observations being 4.00 p.m. on 27/6/2011. A  report on this proposal will be brought to the July meeting of the Council.

In the meantime,a planning application is being finalised by the Department for the school on the Esker depot site.
