MOTION NO. 4
MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
Cathaoirleach's Business
That the Manager will address concerns of motorists entering and exiting the Palmerstown Shopping Centre during busy traffic times at the entrance/exit on Kennelsfort Green by putting a yellow box in situ and further that he will address the busy junction of Kennelsfort Road with Kennelsfort Green with regard to motorists gaining access to and from this area.
REPORT:
The entrance into a shopping centre is considered private and yellow boxes are only installed at the junctions of two public roads, hence a yellow box is not recommended at this location. However, the management company for the shopping centre can have a "keep clear" box installed provided they pay for the costs involved.
There is a yellow box at the junction of Kennelsfort Green and Kennelsfort Road and this is considered adequate for this junction. A traffic count was previously carried out at this location and a warrant for the provision of a signalised junction was not reached.
