MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

That the Manager provides an update on proposals for the installation of automatic timing gates at various entrances to Glenaulin Park in Palmerston to help tackle ongoing anti-social behaviour issues in the Park.

REPORT:

Following an on-site meeting to discuss the feasibility of providing an automatic timing gate at Glenaulin Park it has been identified that a self closing type kissing gate incorporating a magnetic locking system should achieve the desired results.  To make this work the existing kissing gate would have to be removed and a taller kissing gate manufactured to replace it.  Additional fencing would also be required to either side of the gate.  A quotation for the works is currently being sought and should resources allow it is intended to commence working on a design in conjunction with an electrical engineer to fabricate a gate that will suit the specifics of the entrance.
