MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor T. Delaney

To ask the Manager to examine options to slow down speeding cars along Knockmeenagh Road and Lane?

REPLY:

Knockmeenagh Road and Lane have been inspected and traffic conditions are generally consistent with normal residential road use.

These roads are on the Council’s traffic calming request list.

In response to a large number of requests for traffic calming measures throughout the Council’s administrative area the Council’s Transportation Strategic Policy Committee at its meeting on the 11th May 2006 adopted a new Traffic Calming Programme comprising of four schemes in each of the Council’s five electoral areas.  The selection of each individual scheme will be made by the relevant Area Committee from the Traffic Calming Request List.

The Clondalkin Area Committee will consider this list if and when they select further traffic calming schemes.  However, the Council has no budget for traffic calming measures in 2011.

Specific matters of speeding traffic will be forwarded to the local Gardaí for their attention.
