MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Parks Department immediately arrange for the maintenance of the roundabouts at Orlagh, Augustinians and Scholarstown Road.  There is a long history of these roundabouts playing second fiddle to others such as Willington and Cypress Grove despite repeated assurances over the years - these have not been attended to this year - there is volunteer assistance available locally to help the Manager if this helps."

REPORT:

The maintenance of roundabouts throughout the county is subject to stringent Health and Safety protocols, in respect of which staff from the Council's Parks Department were obliged to be trained in Signing Lighting and Guarding at roadworks.  Training of staff attached to the Rathfarnham Depot has only recently been completed.  To supplement this training the Council's Health and Safety Officer has recently undertaken an audit of the roundabouts in the Rathfarnham area to establish the practical application of Signing Lighting Guarding in relation to roundabouts in the Rathfarnham area in respect of which maintenance works are due to commence week ending  l0th June  at Orlagh and Templeroan/Scholarstown roundabouts.
