MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney

That this Committee requests a report from the Manager on the lack of progress in 'reclaiming' the pavement space from Main Street through Pope's Lane and along Orchard Road as far as the houses as per previous items.

REPORT:

The Pope’s Walk is a local name for the pedestrian walkway between Main Street and Orchard Lane, Clondalkin and it is in public ownership.

There is a parking problem, both private parking and Taxi Parking around the Village Inn.

The Village Inn is an Island Bar and it does not have Off Street Parking of its own.

The only way to solve the problem is to develop a Parking Strategy for this part of Clondalkin Village which is currently being examined by the Traffic Department. The Committee will be kept informed as the design is developed.

It is envisaged that a proposal will be presented to the September Area Committee Meeting.
