HEADED ITEM NO. 11

HEADED ITEM: C. Services Department

NOMINATION TO THE MEATH FOUNDATION AT TALLAGHT HOSPITAL

(circulated herewith)

REPLY:

The following report was presented to the Members at the Organisation, Procedure & Finance Committee Meeting held on 19th May 2011:

The Meath Foundation at the Tallaght Hospital was established in 1998 as successor to the Board of the Meath Hospital.  The Mission of the Foundation is to carry on the best traditions of the Meath Hospital.  This includes providing a focus for voluntary input into the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Dublin incorporating the National Children’s Hospital by:

- electing six directors to the Board of the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Dublin incorporating the National Children’s Hospital

- promoting healthcare research and education within the hospital and the wider community.

Under the articles of Association of the Meath Foundation the three administrative areas within the catchment area of the hospital (South Dublin County Council, Wicklow County Council and Kildare County Council) are invited to nominate one member each to the Foundation Board for a three year term.

South Dublin County Council was represented on the Board by Councillor Eamon Maloney, who resigned following his election to Dáil Eireann in February of this year, and was replaced on the Board by Councillor Chris Bond (H10/0411).  The current board is now completing its three year term of office and South Dublin County Council is once again invited to nominate a representative to the Meath Foundation.

This matter is now before the Members for their consideration.    End of Report to OP&F.

The report was NOTED and it was AGREED on the proposition of Councillor M. Duff, seconded by Councillor D. Looney that Councillor C. Bond be nominated to the Meath Foundation of Tallaght Hospital.

This matter is now before the Council for approval.
