COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 26
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager if the Parks Dept will assist in maintaining the temporary playing pitches at Adamstown as provided by the developer in conjunction with Adamstown Community College & local clubs including Lucan Sarsfields?
REPLY:
The Council's grass cutting resources are fully deployed to the cutting of public parks, open spaces and roadside margins around the county. Local staff are endeavouring to maintain these areas to the highest standard possible within existing resources. From time to time, the Council receives requests to maintain lands which are not under the control of the Council. In such circumstances, it is the policy of the Council to decline such requests on the basis that limited resources must be prioritised to the maintenance of public lands. There are also legal and insurance issues which preclude Council staff and equipment from carrying out maintenance works on privately owned land other than where provided for under legislation such as the Derelict Sites Act.
