MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

That the Manager agrees to requests from local residents for the gate at the Griffeen Glen entrance to Griffeen Valley Park be locked every evening and opened in the mornings on a month long trial basis in order to help stamp out anti-social behaviour in the park and outlines when this proposal can be enacted.

REPORT:

Arrangements are being made to have the gate locked by the Park Rangers in the evenings and opened in the mornings in line with park opening hours.  This will be undertaken on a trial basis for a period of one month and will be subject to review after this period.  It should be noted that, as the Park Rangers are not based in the park, the gate is likely to remain locked until approximately 10.30am each morning and will be closed approximately 30 minutes before park closing time in the evenings.

Advance notice of the new arrangements including details of the operative dates will be posted on site.
