MOTION NO.6

MOTION: Councillor P. Kearns

That this Committee calls on the Manager to provide infill of sand/soil at the side of the playing pitches in Tymon Park. This will enable the local clubs to carry out any emergency repairs and may prevent accidents and injuries to players and spectators alike.

REPORT:

The maintenance of the pitches in Tymon Park is a matter for the Council.  The Council cannot permit local clubs to undertake maintenance works, as suggested, for legal and insurance reasons. If local clubs and /or members of the public are aware of hazards on a playing pitch in Tymon Park, which might lead to accidents/injuries, they should not use the pitch and they should report the matter as soon as possible to local staff.
