That this Committee ask the Manager to make a report regarding the very bad condition of the surface on the road  which runs through Tymon North Park leading to the National Basketball Arena, and inform the Committee if the Public Lighting on the road is in a safe, secure and working condition.

REPORT:

The Council is aware of the deteriorating condition of the access road to the National Basketball Arena and vandalism to the public lighting system. Recent estimates obtained indicate that temporary repairs to the roadway will cost in the region of €12,000 - €15,000. The Council’s Public Lighting Department is also reviewing the public lighting system and preparing an estimate in relation to the likely costs of repairs. 

These matter have been the subject of recent discussion with representatives of the National Basketball Arena and the issue of responsibility for the works is to be the subject of further discussion.
