MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor B. Lawlor

That this Council prioritize the need for a Community Facility at Ballycragh Park that has been sought by the local community over many years and provide a timeframe for its immediate provision having regard to the fact that the Part 8 process is complete and money has been put aside for the project.

REPORT:

The Part 8 process, which applies in a case when the local authority itself is seeking planning permission to build, has been completed in this instance. In the meanwhile, the Architectural Services Department are working on the design drawings with a view to having a package ready to go to tender mid September. This would ensure that work would start on site before the end of the year. The Quantity Surveying servicves required for this project are being provided in-house, which will save considerably on costs, while it is also expected that the services of a Structural Engineer will need to be retained. Every effort will be made to deliver this project for the local community at the earliest possible date.
