QUESTION NO. 19
QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh 2009
ós fios dóibh go raibh méadú ar an méid dealbhóireachta a goideadh nó a scriosadh le cúpla mhí anuas, cén bearta sa bhreis atá á ndéanamh ag an gComhairle chun dealbhóireacht phoiblí sna láithreáin poiblí an Chontae, (sna páirceanna, ar thaobh na bóithre, mar shampla) a chosaint?
Mindful of the increase in the number of public art stolen or destroyed in the past number of months, what additional measures is the Council undertaking to defend public art (in the parks and roadsides, for example) in the County?
REPLY:
Don chuid is mó tá dealbhóireacht phoiblí lonnaithe in Áit a bhfuil lucht oibre na Comhairle i láthair. Níl mórán píosaí ealaíne sna Páirceanna agus ceaptar go bhfuil siad sách sábháilte mar go mbíonn na páirceanna daingnithe taobh amuigh do uaireanta oscailte oifigiúla. Tá dealbhóireacht ar líonra bóithre i limistéar Chomhairle Contae Átha Cliath Theas déanta suas de phlaiceanna cloiche den chuid is mó le plandaí mar mhaisiú.
In relation to public parks there are relatively few pieces of public art which are generally located in the parks where the Council has a staff presence. It is considered that these pieces are relatively secure as these parks are secured outside of normal opening hours. Art features along the road network in the South Dublin County Council area consist mainly of stone plaques with ornate planting.
