MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That this Committee considers some proposals for enhancing the appearance of the boundary wall at Ashton estate which has been continually maintained by residents of Templeroan estate and to consider planting proposals for same."

REPORT:

The Council is conscious of, and wishes to acknowledge the efforts of local residents in helping to maintain this area.  Plant material is funded out of the Arboricultural Programme budget which has been reduced in recent years as part of the financial management measures required in the current financial climate. In order to manage the budget within the limited resources available, the focus of the last two programmes has been to give priority to maintenance of existing plantings rather than to provide new plantings. The 2011 / 2012 Arboricultural Programme will again be formulated on this basis and new plantings are not envisaged at this stage.
