QUESTION NO. 6
QUESTION: Councillor C. Jones
To ask the Manager to state the amount of applications received with regard to the Social Credit Scheme?
REPLY:
The Social Credits System is a 12 month pilot programme which rewards community groups youth groups, resident associations and schools who take action by cleaning up, planting and maintaining areas and encourages them to continue to take positive sustainable actions within their community. The programme also encourages and motivates groups, who are not involved in the enhancement of local areas, to get involved.
To date 43 enquiries have been received, 17 application forms submitted and 9 applications approved. Of the applications approved, the actions include area clean-ups and the establishment of community gardens in a school and community centre. Applications are assessed under the following categories:
Assessments are carried out by a cross departmental Sub-Committee.
