MOTION NO 15.

MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

That this Council calls on the Minister for Children to immediately address the delay in allocating necessary funding through Co Dub VEC to Summer Project schemes through-out South Dublin County. This Council notes that projects in Dublin Mid West are particularly dependent on this funding and may not go ahead without the matter being resolved.

REPORT:

Summer Projects traditionally provided the opportunity for children to avail of healthy activities and educational trips outside their areas, who might not normally do so. They were also a great opportunity to recruit new volunteers. Now more then ever, there is a need to provide such activities.

The council has allocated funding from the community budget to provide for 35 projects across the County.

We understand that the VEC have now received their allocation from the Department.
