MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, May 09, 2011

QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor C. Jones

To ask the Manager if any funding has been identified for this year through the Anti-Litter Awareness Campaign?

REPLY:

As part of the Council’s anti-litter and anti-graffiti awareness grant scheme funding is provided to organisations to carry out anti-litter and anti-graffiti awareness initiatives in South Dublin County.

Accordingly community and environmental groups which carry out voluntary initiatives that focus on involving schools and young people in anti-litter and anti- graffiti awareness actions are requested, via placement of advertisements in the local media, to submit proposals for anti-litter and anti-graffiti awareness grant scheme . This grant scheme is carried out in conjunction with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government provide 70% of the funding and South Dublin County Council provide 30% of the funding.

Each year the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government notify Councils when the funding is available as of yet South Dublin County Council has not received notification that the anti-litter and anti-graffiti awareness grant scheme is available for 2011
