QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To ask the Manager to outline the timeframe for final completion of the ‘Green Route’ project linking Griffeen Avenue to the Grand Canal, including the new Grand Canal bridge and to further ask the Manager if there is any scope to seek funding to extend the ‘Green route’, including CCTV and lighting, through the remainder of Griffeen Valley Park as far as the N4 footbridge?

REPLY:

The Green Route will be fully completed by the end of June 2011.  Construction of the route and installation of CCTV and public lighting is almost complete. The over bridge is currently under construction.

The pedestrian crossing installed on Griffeen Avenue as part of this project incorporates an extension of CCTV, power and lighting to the northern section of Griffeen Valley Park to facilitate any future extension of the route.  There is no funding available for an extension of the route at present. South Dublin County Council will pursue any opportunities that may arise.
