MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

That the Manger provide a report on the conclusions to be drawn from the recently-conducted traffic count between the Oval/N4 junction and Kennelsfort Road/Wheatfield Road junctions.

REPORT:

The traffic count which was carried out was supplied to the members.

The anlysis indicates that a proportion of the traffic on Kennelsfort Road turns on to Wheatfield road.  

The percentage of traffic traversing Wheatfield road  exiting at the Oval varies from a high of 58%  (7- 8 am) to 14 % (12-1 pm).   A lower proportion returns to Kennelsfort road. This varies from a high of 12% (8-9am) to a low of 3 % between 6and 7 pm effectively u turning.

Similarly on the reverse journey a portion of the traffic exits the N4 at the Oval via Wheatfield road. This varies from 59%  (4-5 pm) and 19%  (8-9am). Similarly a lower proportion u turns and re exits at the oval varying from a low of 3% (5-6pm) to a high of 17% (1-2 pm).

 The volume of traffic which uses this route to access the N4 from Kennelsfort Road is not excessive and varies from 11% of the traffic on Kennelsfort Road (7-8am) to 3% (12-1).
