MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

To ask the Manager if he can indicate how many of those staff who up till recently worked on household bin collections, will be assigned duties in the Environmental Services Department/Cleansing Section, which will provide additional resources to keeping public spaces tidy, and free of litter and illegal dumping in the Lucan Electoral Area?

REPLY:

Staff formerly deployed to the Refuse Section have been re-assigned to a new Operations Unit which has been designed to carry out a vast array of duties across all functions of the local authority and throughout the county. The Unit will operate in a truly flexible way in that traditional lines of demarcation are not present and the Unit will operate across the organisation and county. Litter and dumping removal are included in the remit of the Unit.

The number of refuse staff assigned to the Unit is 53.
