5. Guidelines for Community Clean-Ups - up date
REPLY:
The South Dublin County Council Litter Management Plan 2008-2011 adopted in June 2008 contains as one of its objectives - “Encourage active participation in Anti-Litter Campaigns”. This includes encouraging communities, schools and businesses to get involved in local clean-ups and national anti-litter campaigns i.e. National spring Clean and Tidy Towns competition.
Guidelines for communities clean-ups have been prepared taking account of the input of members from the February SPC meeting. The guidelines will help groups prepare for clean-ups, consider issues which may emerge and outline the supports available from the Council. Groups should contact the local Litter warden or complete the application form online.
The procedure outlined includes applying for support from the Council up to 3 weeks in advance of clean-up, outlining clean-up area and considerations such as risk assessment, health & safety, insurance and waste disposal.
The Council’s litter warden will implement the guidelines with a pre and post inspection.
