MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)

Monday, April 18, 2011

QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine

"To ask the Manager what supports and funding are available for resident groups in the Tallaght area in order to encourage and enable them get established in their communities?"

REPLY:

The Community Services Department has a team of Community Workers who can provide practical help and advice to residents groups and other community organisations on a wide variety of issues. These include organisational and governance issues as well as in-depth knowledge of local authority and other state agencies and how they may be of use to such groups and associations.

The Community Workers can also help with information on funding in general and the Council's Community Grants Scheme in particular. Details of the Community Grants Scheme can be viewed by accessing the link below.

Many of the Community Workers sit on various management committees and boards and contribute their knowledge and expertise in this way to the community. They are also very familiar with the various central government funding streams and are in a position to advise groups about these funding streams and to advise them if they may be able to submit an application.
