QUESTION NO. 14
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
To ask the Manager to confirm that the Council will provide a system of grant support for Summer Projects in 2011?
REPLY:
Summer Projects traditionally provided the opportunity for children to avail of healthy activities and educational trips outside their areas, who might not normally do so. They were also a great opportunity to recruit new volunteers. Now more then ever, there is a need to provide such activities.
The council has allocated funding from the community budget to provide for 35 projects across the County. Meetings have been held recently with project leaders to assist with the planning, administration and other arrangements in relation to events.
A full report will be presented Area Committee meetings in September and the Sports, Recreation, Community Development and Parks SPC.
