MOTION: Councillor T. Ridge
That a report be brought to this Committee by the Manager re. progress of amenity works at Corkagh Park outlining all the amenities to be provided.
REPORT:
The following is a progress report regarding the completion of amenity works in Corkagh Park this year;
- The construction of the ZORB mound to facilitate the Development of an Outdoor Adventure and Activity Centre has recently been completed. The operation is due to commence in the coming weeks.
- The refurbishment of Fishery Coffee Shop has recently been completed and works are in progress on the outside deck area.
- It is hoped that the construction of the Cycle Race Track will commence in early May (subject to completion of outstanding legal requirements).
- The installation of a new toilet block at the Children's Playground will commence in early May.
- The Refurbishment of reception building and upgrading of other facilities at Camac Valley Caravan Park are well advanced.
- The upgrading of toilet facilities at the Pet Farm are now underway and fencing works are complete .
- Discussions are ongoing with the supplier regarding the possibility of replacing the visitor train.
- The installation of an all-weather wicket/crease at the Cricket Grounds for Adamstown Cricket Club has recently been completed.
- Provision of demountable public barbecue facilities- this is likely to be completed later in the year.
- The planting of new trees at the main car-park St. John's Road has been completed.
In addition to the above and also subject to finance being available, it is hoped to be able run the Halloween 'Spooky Walk' and Christmas Wonderland events in the park, both of which were very successful last year. A Family Treasure Hunt is also planned in Corkagh Park during the week before Easter.
