QUESTION NO. 12

QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh

To ask the manager for an update on installation of a GAA pitch at Collinstown Park.

REPLY:

Collinstown Park covers and area of approximately 19 hectares.  The Park is currently laid out with 5 soccer pitches.  An examination of the outlying areas was undertaken to determine if an additional pitch could be provided, however due to the orientation of existing pitches (which cannot be altered) it is not possible to provide a 6th pitch.

The current allocations for the pitches  is being examined.  If it proves feasible it may be possible to release one of the soccer pitches by getting the soccer clubs to share existing pitches.  The resultant additional pitch can then be converted to a GAA pitch.  A progress report on this matter will issue to the Councillor when the exercise has been compelted.
