SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO. 8
QUESTION: Councillor T. Delaney
To ask the Manager to report to this Committee on the ownership & responsibility of the laneway to the side of Rye Cottage, Boot Road. Also, what would be required to close it off as it is a constant dumping area as well as being a magnet for anti-social activity?
REPLY:
The laneway in question is not in the ownership of the Council. However, a public right of way exists over this laneway. A reference will be carried out to establish the ownership details.
In order for this laneway to be closed it will be necessary in the first instance to extinguish the public right of way. If a petition is received from those residents immediately adjoining the laneway identifying their concerns, and requesting that the public right of way be extinguished, the matter will be brought to the Clondalkin Area Committee for its recommendation.
