COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)
Monday, April 18, 2011
QUESTION NO. 4
QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr
"To ask the Manager to ensure prompt and regular fortnightly cleansing of main roads within the remit of the West Tallaght study area, given the regular littering of theses roads and the slow response to cleansing due to resource restrictions which should now be alleviated through the redeployment of former waste collection staff?"
REPLY:
The current terms of the Council's road-sweeping schedule provide for the sweeping of main roads in the County once each month and this is supplemented by the responses provided by staff in the Cleansing and other sections of the Council. It is not considered appropriate to increase the frequency of the schedule as the availability of Cleansing staff to provide effective responses is now greatly improved due to the removal of the necessity for Cleansing staff to be assigned to refuse collection duties.
