MOTION NO.11

MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

That the Manager puts in place an urgent action and implementation plan to deal with the matter of illegal horse ownership and grazing on open spaces in the Jobstown/Brookfield areas, noting that there are extreme cases of animal cruelty, major animal welfare issues and public health and safety concerns arising from this practice and the proliferation of horses in and around *address supplied.

REPORT:

The issue with horses at the location concerned is currently being addressed by the Environment, Housing and Parks Department jointly. 

The Council's Parks Department investigated the matter of horses in the McUilliam Estate and on the day of inspection, no horses were present.  However, the area will be closely monitered by Parks staff and any loose or wandering horses will be seized and brought to the Council's horse pound.
