MOTION NO.2

MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

That this Committee acknowledges the hard work and effort of the Little Monsters Youth Club in Jobstown in organising and staging the "Pride of Jobstown" event, that we acknowledge the strong and progressive leadership displayed by their participation in and creation of this event and support the possibility of encouraging similar events throughout the Tallaght area.

REPORT:

The Mayor of South Dublin County Council made presentations at the  Pride of Jobstown Awards which this year were sponsored by  the Dublin Bus Community Support Programme and organised by The  Little Monsters Club.  They have won several awards including the Council’s Beautiful South County Dublin in which The Little Monsters efforts to improve their environment saw them victorious in the category for youth initiative in these prestigious awards.  Their work was also acknowledged in the Foroiges Community Spirit Awards.

 South Dublin County Council continues to work with a wide variety of community groups throughout the Jobstown and  the wider Tallaght area.  Staff from the various Departments including Community Services, Environment and Housing work on a day to day basis with the groups and support their activities.  Staff also work with residents and community organisations to replicate successful  projects in other communities.
