COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SPC
Thursday, April 07, 2011
HEADED ITEM NO. 4
HEADED ITEM: P. Department
Update on Working Groups
REPLY:
Members will be aware that there are currently two working groups established by the SPC. One on Traditional Urban Villages and the other on the Economic Strategy for the County. The work of both groups is referenced under the presentation given in relation to the broader business support context in the County under Headed Item 2.
Members should note that Mr Neil Durkan has submitted the following Motion (with supporting documentation) for consideration in this regard :
“That the Economic Development & Planning SPC requires the local authority to initiate an immediate review of the Development Contribution Scheme 2010-2017 under S48 and S49 of the Planning & Development Act, and to adjust the development contribution rates appropriately in line with changed market values. In the interest of stimulating economic activity in the County.”
Members should now consider how best to examine and progress the broader issues and the matters already considered by the working groups. It is suggested that the Working Groups meet over the coming months to develop recommendations to bring back to the SPC which will be scheduled in September/October. It might be useful for the SPC meeting to suggest pioritisation of the issues to be examined at these meeting(s).
