MOTION NO. 1

MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

That this Council calls on Dublin Bus to ensure that the views and concerns of the communities within South Dublin County are taken on board in a real way further to the consultation process engaged in as part of the Network review process and furthermore to ensure that no residents of the county will be without an easily accessible bus service as a result of the review process.

REPORT:

Phase 2 of the Network Direct Project being implemented by Dublin Bus involves changes to the bus services for Tallaght, Walkinstown and areas of the centre city served by the routes from these areas. A public consultation process is underway on the proposals and a series of public meetings have been arranged to discuss the proposed changes. These meetings are being held in Killinarden Community Centre, Fettercairn Community Centre and The Square Shopping Centre. Dublin Bus has indicated that they propose to introduce the changes to the network on a phased basis later this year with the overall aim of providing a more direct, higher frequency, and punctual bus service with improved cross city connection.

If the motion is passed, the terms of the motion will be conveyed to Dublin Bus.
