MOTION: Councillor C. Bond

That this Council will examine the feasibility of setting up a South Dublin County Council Smart Phone application. Such an application could contain information on local amenities and events. It could also allow local businesses to buy up advertising space on the application.

REPORT:

An iPhone Application has been recently developed for South Dublin County Tourism company.  The iGuide is a free mobile application aimed at everyone who visits, works or lives in the County. iGuide South Dublin makes connections with South Dublin news items and a wide range of  upcoming events including Concerts, Shows, Comedy Gigs, Art Exhibitions, Festivals, Soccer, Archery, Snooker, Darts, Live Music, Traditional Irish Nights, Charity Walks, Golf Classics and Music. 

All South Dublin County Council departments, facilities, amenities, parks, community groups, libraries, heritage sites, events, festivals etc will have access to upload content on the iGuide South Dublin. SDCC is currently working with South Dublin Tourism to progress this. An android version will be available in the second half of this year.

iGuide South Dublin is cross linked with iGuide Dublin, iGuide Belfast and iGuide UK, this will help to raise the profile of South Dublin County, its amenities and the business community.
