"That this Committee discusses with the aid of a full report on traffic management in the Templeroan area the current planning application forSancta Maria School. To state the result of the recent traffic count undertaken with a view to providing Traffic Lights at the exit from Templeroan Estate as requested by this Committee previously."
REPORT:
Planning Reg Ref No. SD11A/0033 was received on 14th February 2011 in respect of the following:-
Demolition of a 1947 single storey classroom wing, water tower and prefabs; construction of a 4450sq.m. extension to the 1970's school building comprising of single and two storey wings of staff and teaching accommodation, a general purpose hall, a PE Hall, changing rooms, WC's, ancillary plant and storage, a new stage and fly tower to the existing assembly hall, 5 no. hard courts, improvements to existing paths, roadways and drop off facilities, new gates to the existing Templeroan entrance, new entrance signage, 55 no. car parking spaces, bicycle parking, covered walkway, boundary fencing, landscaping and associated site works, and replacement of all windows to the 1970's school building at Sancta Maria College, which lies within the curtilage of a Protected Structure. The development will include making good external walls to ancillary buildings to Ballyroan House, where the 1947 building to be demolished adjoins, and upgrade of its access road as part of the improved access to the school.
This application was included under Headed Item 10 (A) Large applications under consideration for the Rathfarnham Area Committee Meeting on Tuesday 8th March 2011.
On 6th April 2011 Additional Information was requested on this application.
With regard to the provision of traffic signals, a traffic count carried out in 2010 at the junction of Templeroan Avenue and Templeroan Road established that a warrant for traffic signals exists. No source of funding has yet been identified for these works.
