APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRPERSON TO THE TRANSPORTATION STRATEGIC POLICY COMMITTEE

REPORT:

The following report was presented to the Members at the Organisation, Procedure & Finance Committee Meeting held on 24th March 2011:

“A vacancy has arisen for the position of Chairperson of the Transportation SPC as a result of the election of Derek Keating to Dáil Éireann.

In accordance with the SPC Standing Orders and  Circular Letter LG 10/09 from the Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government, the chairs are appointed by the full council for a minimum period of three years and the overall spread of SPC chairs must, in accordance with the guidelines, reflect the political representational spread on the full council.

 It is now before the members to make recommendation on the appointment of a new Chair to the Transportation SPC.

(The Chair of the Transportation SPC, along with other SPC Chairs, are automatically members of the County Development Board).”  End of Report to OP&F.

It was proposed by Councillor W. Lavelle, seconded by Councillor B. Lawlor     and RESOLVED:

“That Councillor T. Ridge be nominated to fill the position of Chairperson on the Transportation Strategic Policy Committee.”

 This matter is now before the Council for approval.
