MOTION NO. 13

MOTION: Councillor M. Devine

That this Committee calls on the Manager to provide an update to the previously discussed Motion regarding funding and responsibility for the provision of a footpath on Treepark Ave, Kilnamanagh. It has been acknowledged that the situation poses a real danger for children accessing their school.

REPORT:

The implementation of an agreed solution to the difficulties being experienced at the location referred to in the motion required very careful consideration to achieve the optimal solution and to meet the needs of the parents and pupils accessing and egressing from the school premises and the local residents. A School Keep Clear Zone and Double Yellow Lines have been provided which will greatly improve safety and provide better vision for crossing movements adjacent to the right angled bend in Treepark Avenue. As soon as the necessary works can be accommodated in the Area Engineers programme of works. a short section of footpath angled across the incidental open space to meet the existing footpath across the main open space will also be provided.

The local Gardai have also been asked to monitor compliance with the new road markings to ensure that they achieve their objective.
