QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr
"To ask the Manager to revisit the matter of incorrect Road and area signage within the Tallaght area with a commitment to ensure the prompt correction of same without responding with details of NRA responsibilities, but ensuring that the response actually addresses the request raised in the question?"
REPLY:
The Council is the process of undertaking a significant review of road and area signage in the Tallaght Area at present. The review is being rolled out on a phased basis as resources are available and the Councillor can be assured that all necessary corrections will be made. If the Councillor is concerned with any particular location, they should advise the staff of the Traffic section and they will examine whether efforts can be made to prioritise this location.
In the general Tallaght Area, new signage is at present being installed on the R113 (Belgard Road, Oldbawn Road and Killininny Road) while new signs were installed on the R114 (Firhouse Road, Bohernabreena Road and Ballinascorney Road) in 2010. The National Roads Authority are preparing a scheme for signing of the entire N81 including the section in South Dublin.
It should be noted that following the completion of the joint publication of the Street and Placenames Directory by the Roads Depart and the Irish Officer, all destinations used on signs to be installed are checked by the Irish Officer in advance of their design and manufacture.
