MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)

Monday, March 21, 2011

QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

"To ask the Manager to report if the offer made by Tallaght Community School to provide a dressing room on the school's land , for use by teams using the pitches at Tymon Park, has progressed and has the Manager decided to accept the TCS offer?"

REPLY:

The Council did have a preliminary meeting a few years ago with interested parties namely Leinster Branch of IRFU representing Tallaght Rugby Club and Tallaght Community School on the provision of suitable dressing rooms on unused school land adjacent to the area of Tymon Park which sites the pitches used for Rugby. While there was general agreement on the proposal at the meeting from all parties involved the matter was left for the Leinster Branch of the IRFU to revert back to the Council to progress further. This has not occurred since. There is of course a financial cost attached to the proposal and at the time of the initial discussion Sports Capital Grants were available but unfortunately this is not now the case.
