QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

To thank the Manager for the recent litter/fly tipping clean-ups in the back lanes in Palmerstown and that he pass on the thanks of the community to the litter warden and staff, and to ask if he can supply the approximate cost of this series of exercises over a given period e.g. 2010?

REPLY:

The comments of the motion are noted.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to quantify the specific expenditure for clean-ups of the back lanes in Palmerstown as the expenditure comprises waste disposal costs for materials swept, removed and litter picked throughout the County as well as direct labour and litter warden wages costs.  There were approximately 6,000 clean-up tasks completed in 2010 throughout the County.

The Street Cleaning budget for 2011 is €4.026m.
