QUESTION NO. 11

QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"To ask the Manager to examine the one tree out of the three along the boundary of 1 Knocklyon Court with Knocklyon Avenue which basically blocks out the sun from the Residents garden at 1 Knocklyon Court once you get passed midday. The Resident would like to remove the tree or have the Council remove it and/or are happy to replace the tree by planting a replacement to the front of the house. If the Council agree to allow the tree to be removed the Resident would be prepared to contribute to the cost. The Council did have an official out last Autumn looking at all the trees and pruning some, he advised that this tree if it is pruned would actually grow quicker and wider which would only make matters worse?"

REPLY:

The trees at this location have been examined recently and are being evaluated having regard to the concerns raised. The offer of assistance from the resident towards the cost of works at this location is appreciated. A decision as to what works might be carried out to the trees at this location will be made as part of the preparation of the Arboricultual Works Programme 2011 – 2012.
