MOTION NO. 13

MOTION: Councillor C. King

That this Committee calls on the Manager to report on the commencement of the residents permit parking only scheme in Westpark.

REPORT:

There was a difficulty with the original signs supplied for this estate and new signs indicating 'Residents Permit Parking Only' had to be ordered. The suppliers have indicated that these signs will be dispatched to the Council's depot shortly. As soon as they have been delivered they will be erected on site. It is anticipated that this work will be scheduled to take place over the next ten days to two weeks.

Following the installation of the signs, residents will be advised that the system is commencing and they will have an opportunity to procure any necessary permits prior to the enforcement regime commencing.  Applicants for permits will be requested to provide appropriate evidence of residency and car ownership to protect the integrity of the permit system.  The permit parking system applies to all areas within Westpark Estate begining at the entrance pillars to the Estate.  Parking wardens during the start up period of operation will issue warning notices before full enforcement commences thereafter. The system should be fully operational during March 2011.
