QUESTION NO. 11

QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

To ask the Manager why the light at the end of Waterstown Avenue (entrance to the Park) has not been reinstated since the pole was replaced.  I and a number of residents have repeatedly asked that it be restored as its absence is a source of serious concern to local residents as given the level of anti social activity in the Park they fear for their safety?

REPLY:

Pole 1 at the end of Waterstown Avenue is a wooden pole owned and maintained by the ESB.  This pole has to be replaced and the ESB undertook this work and in the process they removed the lighting lantern.  The Council are currently awarding a new contract for the maintenance and installation of our public lighting network and it has been decided that the works at this location will be held over until the new contractor has been awarded the contract.  It is planned that the new contract will be in place within the next fortnight and we will then ask the new contractor to carry out this work.
