QUESTION NO. 10
QUESTION: Councillor T. Delaney
To ask the Manager to clarify ownership and policing responsibilities of the Pope's Lane walkway from Main Street through to Orchard Road and the persistent parking of cars which impedes pedestrian traffic?
REPLY:
The Pope’s Walk is a local name for the pedestrian walkway between Main Street and Orchard Lane, Clondalkin and it is in public ownership.
There is a parking problem, both private parking and Taxi Parking around the Village Inn.
The Village Inn is an Island Bar and it does not have Off Street Parking of it’s own.
The only way to solve the problem is to develop a Parking Strategy for this part of Clondalkin Village which is currently being examined by the traffic department. The Councillor will be kept informed as the design is developed.
