COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 18
MOTION: Councillor R. Dowds
That this Committee recommends that the area at Millrace around the Oil Mills in Corkagh Park be cleared and tidied.
REPORT:
The area in the vicinity of the Millrace and around the Oil Mills in Corkagh Park was recently cleaned up by the Parks Department. This somewhat secluded part of Corkagh Park is subject to ongoing anti-social behavior and littering and a meeting was recently held with the Community Safety Forum and local residents to see how this situation can be improved. It has been agreed with these groups to refocus the efforts of the County Council in dealing with the anti-social activity in this area which is most prevalent during the summer months. In this regard the Garda Siochana and Park Rangers based in the Park have been requested to give greater attention to patrolling the area and more regular clean ups will be undertaken by the Parks Dept. to discourage littering and dumping etc. The provision of monitored CCTV system strategically placed in the area will also be considered in the context of the Public Realm initiative.
