QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh 2009
Cad iad na gníomhartha a bheidh ar siúl chun Lá Fhéile Pádraig a cheilliúradh sa Chontae?
(What are the activities planned for St Patrick's Day in the County?)
REPLY:
Beidh paráid i Leamhcán arís i mbliaina. Beidh cúig banna mór agus suas le fiche grupaí Áitiúil sa paráid. Cabhróidh Comhairle Contae Átha Theas leis an paráid i Leamchán Ó thaobh airgeadas dhe agus eagruchan.
Ní raibh aon comóradh formiúil Lá le Padraig i dTamhlacht le blianta beag anuas. Trid an tír bíonn bailte beaga in ann Lá le Padraig a chomóradh ina mbealach fhéin agus ní raibh ceilliúradh ar bith i Tamhlacht, cé go bhfuil daonra níos mó ná cathracha eile sa tír.
I mbliaina, tá an Chomhairle eineacht le munitir Tamhlacht ag ullmhú chun Lá le Padraig a cheilliúradh. Beidh an Ócáid seo ar siúil i Stadiam Tamhlacht sa trathnóna.
Beidh trí banna Áitiúil ag maircseail.. Beidh clubanna spóirt agus daoine suntasach Áitiúil pairteach, chomh maith le reimse mór grupaí aitiúil agus damhsoirí. Cuirfaidh tine ealaíne deireadh leis an Ócáid.
Sé atá i gceist ná go mbeadh an oiread daoine Áitiúil agus is feidir pairteach san Ócáid, chun siamsa a chuir ar fail don lucht féachana.
Beidh seans ag grupaí agus clubanna Áitiúil léiriú spéise a chuir síos, chun pairt a bhaint san Ócáid. Beidh teorann ar an meid grupaí a bheas in ann pairt a ghlacadh san Ócáid.
Tá taithí ar móran daoine ar Staidiam Tamhlacht Ó bheith ag dul ag cluichaí agus Ócáid spoirt Ó d’oscail an Staidiam dhá bhliain Ó shin. Beidh seans ag daoine nach raibh riamh san Áit, gabhail isteach agus an Áis iontach seo a fheiceal don chead uair. Is Áis do phobal Átha Cliath Theas É seo agus ionad spóirt don chead scoth.
Is feidir le aon duine freastail ar an ceilliúradh soar in aisce. Tá súil again go beidh seans ag muintir Tamhlacht pléisúir a bhaint as an lá san Staidiam i gcompóird. Beidh an spraoi agus spórt dha chuir ar fail ag daoine Áitiúil.
Riomh an Ócáid san Staidiam beidh banna Áitiúil leictreach ag seinn san carr chlós. Beidh sé seo ar siúil ar feadh uair a chloig agus leanfaidh an ceilliúradh istigh sa Staidiam ar feadh uair go leath.
Beidh maor, na Gardai agus baill den Chosaint Shibhialta i lathair. Beidh saincheadúnaí bia ar an suiomh chomh maith le tae, caife agus deoch neamh- mheisciúil ar fail. Ní bheidh alcól le fáil agus ní cheadófar É a thabairt isteach, ná É a Ól san ionad.
Mar is gnath beidh Ócáidí ar siúil i gclubanna Cumann Lúthchleas Gael tríd an chontae agus tá súil go leanfaidh said seo ar aghaidh chomh maith.
(There will be a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lucan once again this year. The parade will include five major bands and twenty or more local groups SDCC assists with the parade in Lucan both by supporting the parade financially and also by helping with the organisation of the parade
There has been no formal St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Tallaght for many years and the Council, along with the people of Tallaght, is now making arrangements to mark St. Patrick’s Day this year. An event will take place in Tallaght Stadium.
At least three local marching bands will perform at Tallaght Stadium. Local sports clubs and outstanding individual sports people will be taking part, as well as a wide range of community groups and dancers. The event will close with a fireworks display.
The idea is to involve as many members of the local community as reasonably possible in a participatory role, and at the same time to provide entertainment for those attending the event as spectators.
All local clubs and groups will have the opportunity to submit an expression of interest in taking part in the celebrations. However, places will have to be limited.
Tallaght Stadium is a county venue that many people will be familiar with through the football matches and several other sporting and Community events that have taken place there since it opened two years ago. However, there are many people who have never been to the facility and this gives them a great opportunity to see first-hand what a magnificent facility it is, and most importantly, that it is a community facility for the people of South Dublin, as well as being a venue for top-class sport.
Anyone who wishes to attend the celebrations will be able to do so free of charge. We hope to provide an opportunity for the people to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day in the comfort of the Stadium, in a safe and secure environment and protected (to a certain degree) from the elements. It is envisaged that practically all the entertainment will be provided by local people.
Prior to the events inside the Stadium, it is planned to have local electric bands play in the Stadium car park. This will last approximately one hour, while the events inside the Stadium are expected to last a further one and a half hours
Traditionally, there are functions to mark the day in the various G.A.A. clubs across the county, and it is expected that they will take place as usual this year.)
