QUESTION NO.4

QUESTION: Councillor J. Hannon

To ask the Manager to provide an update on the Boherboy Water Scheme to include projected completion date, additional costs, if any, arising from the demise of the main contractor, and how, in these circumstances, it is proposed to complete the Scheme through the appointment of another contractor or otherwise

REPLY:

The Consulting Engineers, Nicholas O’Dwyer, for this Scheme are currently drawing up Contract Documents listing all the outstanding works and snags with the help of the Council's Resident Engineering Staff.  These documents should be ready for review in early February 2011. When approved, they will be issued to a number of Contractors for pricing. It is hoped to appoint a Contractor to complete the Boherboy Water Supply Scheme and have this Contractor on site in May 2011 and the Scheme should be substantially complete by September 2011.  The contractor will be appointed by the bondsman as it is covered under the bond.  This timetable assumes no major snags arising or legal challenges. It is envisaged that only minor additional costs will be associated with this completion contract.
