QUESTION NO. 20

QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

To ask the Manger if the proposed review of the affects of the bollards installed on the laneway between Kennelsfort Road and The Coppice has been carried out and what consideration has been given to the erection of a wall at this location?

REPLY:

Complaints were received by the Council from local residents and Public Representatives that the laneway between Kennelsfort Road and The Coppice was being used by motorists as a short cut to gain access to the N4 especially during times of traffic build up on Kennelsfort Road.  Arising from an on-site meeting at this location in the Autumn of 2009 it was agreed to install a row of bollards in this laneway to prevent motor vehicles traversing the laneway.  These bollards were installed in late 2009 and have satisfactorily addressed this issue.  The Roads Department has received no correspondence in this regard since the bollards were installed.

Accordingly, there is no proposal to erect a wall at this location.
